industry? Connect with
other filmmakers? Network?
Then Check out the SFM.
Or, are You a BUYER,
looking for projects to represent,
sell or distribute?
Become an accredited buyer (it's free and takes about a
minute) to visit our Online Buyers Lounge,
Script Pitch Cafe, and Film
Market Guide, where you can watch entire
movies, read screenplays, or find hundreds of potential
projects.
The SoCal Film Market
is an extension of the
SoCal
Film Festival in Huntington Beach, held
every September. The
SFM is an ideal
choice for deals to happen with year-round access to an extensive
list of properties from filmmakers as well as an
extensive database of buyers and sellers.
The American Film Market (AFM), Cannes, Toronto,
European and Asian Markets cater to the larger indie
projects with bigger names or companies serving as sales
agents with many, many properties to sell, not one or
two movies ... Sure, tons of deals get made at AFM;
however, it is not the indie producer represent his/her
project that makes the sale. It is middle-men, selling
companies for other companies to other companies.
And, at the other film markets, it's the same ... or it
is projects with bigger budgets and bankable stars.
Also, if you are looking to represent yourself with one
or two projects, traditional film markets are very, very
expensive.
Get your movie seen in our SFM Market Guide
or Host Your Very Own Screening or post
a screenplay in the Script Pitch Cafe.
The SFM will help you get your movie in front of the
people who need to see it. We also have
exclusive and hard to find tools
to help you get your movie or screenplay market ready.
Hear from expert industry panelists in
our video vault, where experienced pros
discuss the ins and outs of foreign distribution,
domestic distribution,
filmmaking, screenwriting and
more. Also, read our exclusive interviews, only
available at the SFM with mainstream
pros (the producer of UP,
the screenwriter of
Pretty Woman, and others).
Connect with buyers and sellers in our
Members-Only-Forum. And, of course, access our
lists of buyers and agents to find up-to-date
contact information of more than 1,500
worldwide buyers and agents.
With its proximity to the heart of
the industry and its positioning between other major markets, the
SFM is a cost effective addition or alternative to other markets
such as Cannes and AFM. Based
in the original Surf City USA, visited by more
than 14 million people every year, Huntington Beach
is just south of Hollywood and a great location
to close your deal.
The SoCal Film Market came about in
response to the great quality of work coming through the
SoCal Film Festival and other festivals. The film
fest recently hosted the premiere of
Christian Ricci and
Matthew Lillard's ALL'S FAIRE IN LOVE,
as well as the Richard Dreyfuss narrated baseball
documentary, SIGNS OF THE TIME.
In the past, having premiered and screened movies like the critically
acclaimed JACKSON by
JF Lawton (Pretty
Woman, Under Siege), the UK's ZEBRA CROSSINGS,
UNREST (After Dark Films), THE COLT
(Hallmark), CONJURER (Monarch), THE ELEPHANT KING
(Unison), Kevin Nealon's
REMARKABLE
POWER (Dalton), FIGHT NIGHT
(Phase 4 Films) and PERMANENT VACATION
(Vanguard), the professionals at the SoCal Film Festival have expanded to include
the SoCal Film Market showcasing international filmmakers,
screenwriters and projects.
